If all the Marthas decided to get their Monthly on the same day, we might really have an impact.

Womanspace Resource Centre Launches Fundraising Drive
Womanspace has been hit hard by a loss of federal Status of Women funding. However, the organization is rebuilding and has enjoyed tremendous support from the community."We have seen a rise in individual donations, an ever growing base of volunteers, and incredible attendance by the community at our fundraising events," says Shannon Phillips, volunteer chair of the board of directors."Support from the Lethbridge Lifelong Learning Association allowed us to continue offering our highly successful Financial Literacy Program for low-income women," adds Phillips.
Proceeds from all fundraising efforts go toward local financial literacy programs and replacement identification so that very vulnerable women, such as women leaving abusive relationships, can rebuild their lives.

In 2004, Womanspace started Martha's Monthly. Each month, an organized e-letter is sent to the membership on a policy issue that affects women. At their discretion, the letter is then sent on to the provincial government, with or without personal stories. Womanspace has worked for more than 20 years for women's political, social, and economic equality.

I can honestly say that I was never affected by the question of the success of an undertaking.  If I felt it was the right thing to do, I was for it, regardless  of the possible outcome.

WRITING ON THE WALL

This video explores the literacy crisis unfolding in Canadian classrooms and the link with poor provincial financial funding of public school libraries.  Martha urges you to overlook the corporate stuff and and ask yourself what your provincial government should be doing!
